News & Events

East London children have been invited to take part in a lively and inclusive Holiday Camp this year, which offers free places and meals under the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme we are delivering in the borough of Redbridge.

The Little Foxes Club has been a chosen partner in this government-funded initiative in previous years too. For 2024 we are rolling it out to even more accessible locations in the wider London area.

That includes this new HAF Easter holiday camp running from Tuesday 2nd April to Friday 4th   April. It is being held at St. Augustine’s Catholic Primary School and Loxford School (for its primary age children), which are both in Ilford.

The holiday camp is especially aimed at children who would normally enjoy free school meals during term times, and combines access to healthy eating advice and options with a great day of fun activities being supervised by our expert staff. Children who meet the criteria can get involved with the holiday camp with zero fees to pay, and will also enjoy a free meal.

So, what can participants expect on a HAF Holiday Camp in the Redbridge area?

The highly trained sports coaches and play leaders from our team will be providing an enriching range of age-appropriate activities. The goal is to make sure everyone involved has a great time, makes new friends and also gets to feel like a winner!  That includes sports activities such as football, hockey, cricket, dodgeball and archery.

There will also be dance sessions and the local holiday camp includes age-appropriate opportunities to try Easter-themed arts and crafts, such as pottery painting, clay modelling and building things from Lego.

As it is a HAF-funded initiative in London, there will also be light-hearted and enjoyable sessions to explore healthy eating and lifestyles, and sample good nutritional choices.

What is HAF about?

Here is just a quick reminder about why the Government has invested over £200 million per year on this successful holiday activities and food programme. The project resulted from research indicating that school holidays are potential “pressure points” for some families. This leads to children from low-income households experiencing social isolation and lack of access to good nutrition and exercise.

The government launched the HAF programme in response, and sought partners able to create safe, bespoke local activities in school holidays. Of course, The Little Foxes Club wanted to be part of the solution, as part of our ethos is to provide inclusive and life-skills affirming activities for all children.

Where else is The Little Foxes Club running HAF Holiday Camps around London?

Our existing HAF Holiday Camps are an extension of our year-round sports activities for children in Kensington & Chelsea, Chiswick Battersea and Fulham.

The new Easter Holiday Camp in Ilford adds to that provision and will give children from around the borough of Redbridge some great memories of their school break this year!

Do The Little Foxes Club offer other types of Holiday Camps?

Don’t forget that HAF projects are just one of the types of local Holiday Camps we run, for children aged from just 18 months old to 14 years of age.

That includes amazing things for children to do in Woodford, Chiswick, Kensington, Knightsbridge, Chelsea, Battersea and Fulham.  If the Easter school holiday activities are booked up, watch the website for details of Half Term and Summer Holiday Camps in the London area!
